Program Changes

We had our first full month of Martial Arts at Rizal Center!

Our first round introduced stances, footwork, sticks (bastones), palm stick/knife work, boxing, falls, takedowns, upper joint locks, and staff/spear. The next round will introduce infighting, kicking, lower joint locks, and Tai Chi. And yes, we take requests!

Martial Arts at Rizal Center will still be twice a week:

  • Mondays 6-8 PM
  • Saturdays 1-3 PM (formerly Sundays)

Tai Chi at Rizal Center (formerly Wellness Program) will be weekly:

  • Saturdays 3-4 PM (formerly 1st & 3rd Saturdays)

Known scheduling exceptions:

  • September 23. Space unavailable. Classes will be in the basement.
  • September 30. Space unavailable. Classes will be in the basement.
  • November 11. Space unavailable. Classes will be in the basement.

These changes begin in September 2023.

I studied serrada escrima as well as modern Arnis. What style is being taught at risk Rizal center?

  2. I’ve studied with various FMA folks but primarily Nate Defensor who did a blend and was not FMA style specific. We study martial arts in general, i.e. FMA variants, plus Boxing, Karate, Judo, BJJ, wrestling, HEMA, Aikido, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, MMA, pre-historic, improvised, etc. Why visit one restaurant when you can visit many? A bit of my background is at the bottom of https://rizalcenter.org/community/programs/martial-arts-at-rizal-center/.
