Community Mental Health & Wellness Fair
June 27 @ 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
On Saturday, June 27, Rizal Community Center will bring together mental health and wellness professionals from around Chicago to celebrate culture, care and community. Entrance is free and the event is from10 am – 5:30 pm.

Community Resources on Mental Health, Women’s Health, Parenting, Nutrition, Housing, Computer Literacy, Immigration, Health & Wellness programs, Adult & Family Care, Integrative Care, and LGBT+ healthcare will be available from Trilogy, Trellus and Tapestry.
Stacy Subida, a Supervisor at the city of Chicago’s Department of Family and Support Services will give a presentation on Older Adult Resources, like Insurance, Caregiver Support and Respite Services.
Meet local Filipino American mental health professionals like Angelica Pineda Johnson and Eliza Lachica Wangerin. Listen to poetry by Barb Natividad, a disabled Filipina American writer living fearlessly.
Medical Screenings will be provided by the Chicago Mabuhay Centennial Lions Club, and local Home Health companies.
Find out more about Rizal Center’s programs like Martial Arts, the Balikbayan Book Club, Line Dancing, Pamana Children’s Library, Language Classes, and Arts and Culture collaborations with local Filipino American groups, like CIRCA-Pintig and Sinag Chicago Artists Group.
Delicious Filipino food will be prepared by Leopoldo Catering and Larry Leopoldo will engage us in a talk about making Filipino food more nutritious.
The Filipino School of Chicago will have coloring books and giveaways. Isang Hakbang, Northside Prep High School students will dance Tinikling and Pandanggo sa Ilaw. ***Opportunity to learn some of the dance steps will be available after their performance.
Community Yoga will be provided by The Collective Yoga Co-op!
Tap into your inner Filipino spirituality by creating a healing space with Chamber Creative’s Somaflow — a movement practice for encouraging creative expression movement and nervous system regulation — designed to help people reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and creative flow. - THE KAPWA TREE OF WELLNESS by Angelica Pineda Johnson, LCSW
- 2:30 pm – FOLK DANCING by Isang Hakbang, Northside Prep High School’s Filipino folk dance troupe. Students perform Filipino folk dances, Tinikling and Pandanggo sa Ilaw, then invite people to learn the dance steps
- 3:00 pm – Tabling ends, Closing remarks, Group photos
