Cultivating Belonging: A Night of Storytelling with Dr. Ada Cheng

The Rizal Center is proud to host a transformative community event on Tuesday, March 3, focused on the power of the human narrative. “Us Together: Cultivating Belonging, Trust & Connection via Storytelling” invites neighbors and friends to explore how sharing our personal histories can bridge gaps and build a stronger, more empathetic community.

Hosted by CIRCA Pintig, Chicago’s premiere Filipino community arts organization, this interactive session is part of a unique collaboration that blends the arts with vital health advocacy.

Meet Dr. Ada Cheng & The Road Scholars Program

The evening features Dr. Ada Cheng, a distinguished educator and storyteller who is currently serving as an Illinois Humanities Road Scholar.

The Road Scholars Speakers Bureau is a prestigious program that brings some of Illinois’ most engaging writers, curators, and historians to local communities. By sponsoring these speakers, Illinois Humanities makes the world of history, culture, and politics accessible to everyone, fostering dialogue in every corner of the state.

Dr. Cheng’s work focuses on using storytelling as a tool for social justice and community building. During the first hour, she will lead a workshop sharing various styles of narrative, followed by a second hour dedicated to participants sharing their own stories.
