Meet our Volunteer Art Director – Taryn J. Annis
Last month, the SINAG artists finished the mural on the east wall facing the parking lot, and I was so inspired that it got me thinking of asking another SINAG artist to paint a Filipino Christmas design on our vandalized front doors.
But then I remembered – we already have artists in our volunteer pool, and one of them regularly comes to our workdays! ***I know this because she filled out a VOLUNTEER PROGRAM FORM, (wink, wink) and I like finding opportunities to highlight the talents of our volunteers.
So I decided to offer it to her before asking other artists. I crossed my fingers and hoped she would say yes because the holidays were fast approaching and it definitely would be a challenge AND a choice to find time to paint on cold glass doors!
Needless to say, Taryn J. Annis did not disappoint! She came up with this beautiful design, and was such a trooper for putting up with me and my slow-drying paint markers. It would probably have gone faster with a paintbrush, but she didn’t complain one bit.

She painted these parols on cold winter evenings, using rulers, triangles, stencils, and a hair dryer for quickly drying the paint. When you see Taryn, please let her know how much you love her work! And please enjoy the parols before they transform into a Valentine’s theme display next month!
