Viola  was born in Tacloban City, Leyte and came to the US in 1976. She has made art all her life, in various media, following in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother, who worked magically with cloth. Her work is informed by native crafts from the island of Higatangan, Biliran Province where Viola spent many summers. She considers herself a mixed media artist. She finds comfort in working with cloth and mark making. Viola graduated with a BA in Art and Speech Communications from North Park University and later pursued a MA in Counseling: Art Therapy from Adler University. She is also a certified facilitator of the Open Studio Process. She believes in the transformative and healing power of artmaking. Connect with Viola IG @VIOLACMAYOL
