

Sheryl Coaxum, Sheryl is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and youth advocate whose work celebrates the strength, beauty, and diversity of women and communities of color. Born in California and shaped by her formative years in Hawai’i and Japan, Sheryl brings a rich cultural perspective to her practice. Now based in Chicago, she holds a BA in Time Arts with a minor in Communications from Northern Illinois University, and deepened her creative lens through studies in fine art, design, and architecture in Italy. Through vibrant paintings, mixed media, digital art, and collage, Sheryl weaves together stories rooted in nature, identity, and cultural resilience. Her work is a tribute to the collective power of women—particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds—and aims to create spaces of healing, inspiration, and belonging. Whether in the classroom or the studio, Sheryl is committed to uplifting voices that often go unheard, nurturing creativity, and fostering connection through art.
