CIRCA Pintig in Partnership with the Rizal Center to Host a Storytelling Workshop

Ada Cheng presents the free program as part of Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau

Chicago, IL – March 1, 2025 — This month, CIRCA Pintig will host a presentation titled “Our Words, Our Truths: Storytelling for Collective Identity and Community Engagement,” tracing the journey of Ada Cheng as an Asian American and immigrant storyteller. This eclectic workshop will delve into how personal narratives reflect urgent social concerns of our time, aiming to equip community builders with essential storytelling skills.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ada Cheng to our community,” said Ginger Leopoldo, Executive Director of CIRCA Pintig. “Her insights into storytelling will resonate deeply with audiences who seek to understand and engage with the pressing social issues affecting us today.”

The presentation will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Rizal Center, 1332 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago, IL 60613, at 10 AM. Ada Cheng will explore the importance of storytelling in understanding both personal and collective experiences, and how these narratives can critically reflect on urgent social issues such as racism, xenophobia, and gender-based violence. This event is free and open to the public, making it an excellent opportunity for audiences of all ages to engage with profound themes through the art of storytelling.

This event is co-presented by the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau, which enables local nonprofit organizations to offer free cultural programs to their communities. Road Scholar speakers travel throughout Illinois, sharing dynamic presentations on various topics, including literature, history, and social justice.

Ada Cheng is a renowned storyteller and producer who engages in community-based storytelling. Her work emphasizes the power of personal narratives in fostering collective identity and community engagement.
