Cultural Myths & Family Expectations --Crossroads to Healing Minds (session one)

Our first session will be led by our special guests:

🌿 KAYE FERRERIA-FONG, LCPC is a licensed therapist in Illinois. She is the founder of LILY (LIve Life fullY) Therapy & Wellness, Inc. and one of the co-leads of Therapin*y’s Chicago Midwest Chapter. She is a first-generation Filipina immigrant who works with BIPOC and AANHPI folks who struggle with perfectionism, intergenerational trauma, and religious/spiritual trauma. Kaye’s therapeutic approach is culturally responsive, anti-oppressive, and works from decolonizing frameworks to hold space for communities targeted for marginalization.

🌿 ROEL VIVIT, EdD, has worked as a teacher and leader supporting schools across Chicago and the Midwest. He currently serves as Director of Education for North Lawndale for the Steans Family Foundation and is committed to improving well-being and learning experiences for youth.

🌿 MAYA LEHMANN is a graduate student at the University of Chicago at the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. She is passionate about improving mental health for Filipino Americans and Asian Americans, specifically focusing on issues of internalized racism and colonial mentality. Maya is currently working towards becoming a therapist, and has spent the last seven years working in social services with immigrants and refugees.
