On April 30th, 2025, hundreds of Asian American community members from across Illinois gathered at the State Capitol in Springfield for the 12th annual Asian American Action Day, organized by the Pan-Asian Voter Empowerment (PAVE) Coalition and Advancing Justice | Chicago. Under the theme “Sanctuary for All,” participants spent the day meeting with legislators, sharing personal stories, and rallying in the Capitol Rotunda to push for policies that matter to our communities—like funding immigrant services, expanding access to justice, supporting inclusive history education, recognizing cultural and religious holidays, and protecting sanctuary cities. It was a powerful day of visibility, advocacy, and solidarity, showing that Asian Americans are not just present—we’re engaged, organized, and ready to be heard.
